A rare mid-19th century botanical study of a eucalyptus with detailed cross-section.

Inscribed 'Eucalyptus Perfoliata Blue Gum Tree' and dated 17th Sept 1857.

Set in a giltwood frame.

The Blue Gum Tree is native to Western Australia. This sketch along with others in the collection would have formed part of a scientific survey of flora and fauna throughout the former British Empire.
