This is a rare and unusual taxidermy stool. The Walnut upper section of the X-frame with turned side supports and hide covered central seat panel raised on deer-hoof supports united by hide-covered H-form stretchers.

The design and quality of manufacture would suggest that this stool was produced by a leading taxidermy manufacturer of the 19th Century, possibly Rowland Ward Ltd. who had showrooms at ‘The Jungle’ 166 Piccadilly.
