A pair of late 19th century painted side chairs in the Rococo taste, the backs of cartouche form with foliate and scrolling carving, the overstuffed seats set upon shaped frames with cabriole legs.

Upholstered in Serge Antique by Claremont Fabric Company.

This pair of side chairs was made in the 19th century at a time when interior decoration enjoyed a nostalgic approach. As such, they look back to furniture forms of the earlier 18th century, incorporating the flatter cartouche form backs of the Regence Period with the strong Rococo lines of Louis XV designs.

We have chosen to upholster these chairs using a rich blue Claremont fabric – Serge Antique. This glorious fabric helps to enhance the sumptuous nature of the chairs while enhancing, through contrast, the outline of their painted frames.
