An early eighteenth century Queen Anne Period wing armchair, the upholstered frame set upon later George III Period mahogany legs with brass castors.

Interestingly, this chair was restored in the later eighteenth century. The mahogany legs are of a late George III design as opposed to the cabriole legs you would more typically associate with this period. Most restorations of this kind were undertaken in the twentieth century and as such this shows the careful and loving maintenance of a prized piece one hundred years after its construction, still to be enjoyed today.

Provenance: by repute, Edwina Mountbatten, Countess Mountbatten of Burma.
