A fine late eighteenth century Louis XVI Period citronnier tric trac games table, having a sunken ebony veneered playing surface, with bone and green stained bone inlay for backgammon, the panelled sides with kingwood beading and boxwood banding and short drawers at either end, all raised on turned veneer fluted legs with ornate brass mounts terminating in brass castors. The table retains its original top with leather writing surface and baize for card games. Together with a set of period playing counters, dice and leather shakers.

Stamped Claude-Charles Saunier (1735-1807). Saunier was a leading Parisian ébéniste working in the late eighteenth century. He supplied furniture to leading buyers and collectors as well as the marchand-mercier Dominique Daguerre. His work is well recorded and ranks amongst the most important commissions of the Louis XVI Period.
