A Mid-20th Century Modern British Teak Sculpture

£950

SOLD

A mid-20th Century wooden sculpture, taking as its form, an abstract notion of the human visage.

This sculpture dates from the beginning of the 1960s and shows direct influence of the work of the Modern British sculptor Dame Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975). Such pieces were often made as a maquette for much larger bronze sculptures. Hepworth was part of the St Ives School of artists which included other important names as Ben Nicholson and Naum Gabo.
