19th Century Aquatint of St George’s Chapel Windsor

An early 19th century aquatint after a watercolour view of St George’s Windsor by Frederick Nash, an architectural artist, in 1805.

The East Window shown, is The Resurrection from the design of Benjamin West and made by Jarvis.

There was an inauguration service for this window in the chapel on 1st January 1787. The window was removed many years ago and was replaced by the present one (Clayton Bell).

The Chapel of St George’s is also the setting for the Royal Wedding between HRH Prince Harry of Wales and Meghan Markle on Saturday 19th May 2018.

An aquatint is a picture, etched on copper and afterwards, coloured by hand.
