Framed dimensions above relate to largest picture form the set.

A rare collection of fifteen early 19th century watercolours of varying sizes, depicting sailing ships and boats off the coasts of Torquay in Devon, Sicily and at Malta. Most are inscribed verso with the place name.

This collection has been framed using traditional methods; the watercolour wash mounts are all original and date from the early 19th century. The group was clearly executed by one hand, most probably an itinerant artist attached to the Royal or Merchant Navies.
