A fine late eighteenth century pair of walnut veneered bedside cabinets, each profusely decorated throughout with floral, foliate, and figurative marquetry, the doors opening to reveal papered interiors, all raised on square tapering legs.

Attributed to Giuseppe Maggiolini (13 November 1738 – 16 November 1814)

Giuseppe Maggiolini was the leading cabinetmaker in late eighteenth century Milan. While some of his early work was decidedly in the Baroque taste,  he is mostly associated with neoclassical forms with fine veneers and richly detailed marquetry vignettes, typically within floral and foliate borders.
