A Pair of Bamboo Armchairs

£1,650

SOLD

A pair of mid-20th century bamboo armchairs, the horseshoe backs with intricate detailing throughout and having swept arms, all supported upon cluster column legs with X-form stretchers.

This pair of chairs follows the Chinese tradition of bamboo furniture making and specifically those pieces made for the Export market around the end of the 18th and early 19th centuries. Bamboo is a remarkably strong, yet light material that lends itself particularly well to use in chair making.
