An 18th Century George II Period Mahogany Gainsborough Armchair

£5,500

SOLD

A mid-18th century George II Period leather upholstered mahogany armchair, with arched back, open arms, the seat raised upon square legs and joined by H-form stretchers, all raised on castors.

This armchair of impressive proportions features a beautifully aged, soft, cognac coloured leather which offsets handsomely against the smooth, dark, straight and evenly grained mahogany. It is strikingly understated and elegant with a purity of form that requires no additional surface embellishment.
