A Late 19th Century Satinwood Occasional Table

£1,650

SOLD

A finely figured late 19th century satinwood occasional table, the oval top with scolloped apron set upon a turned stem and supported on a square plinth with upturned corbels and bun feet.

Satinwood is a tropical hardwood that can be polished to a high degree. Its gold sheen lends itself particularly well to furniture as it adds warmth and intensity to any interior. Its grain is interlocked, fine and even with a natural lustre, as can be seen in this delicate example. The decoration is limited to the scalloped apron as well as the base of this piece in the late Regency manner.
