A Mid-19th Century Parquetry Occasional Table

£1,950

SOLD

A Mid-19th century mahogany occasional table, the chamfered rectangular top with checkerboard inlay and set upon a turned stem, terminating in four generously shaped legs.

This charming example of English parquetry with its remarkable geometric woodwork was handcrafted in the 19th century. The grain of the chequered inlay together with the contrasting, warm and dark mahogany base create a unique look and certainly make this occasional table a focal point of any interior.

We selected this piece for its sculptural qualities. The top has moved over time and yet the parquetry veneer work remains remarkably intact.
