A Mid-Century Nest of Lacquer and Gilt Metal Tables By Maison Baguès

A mid-20th century nest of three tables by Maison Baguès of Paris, the tops of red and gold lacquer and set upon gilt iron bases.

Maison Baguès is one of the best known interior furnishing houses of the 20th century. Having origins in the late nineteenth century, the company grew to preeminence between the World Wars with a focus upon luxurious lighting and gilt bronze furnishings. This nest of tables is of exceptional quality and its component parts have been constructed with the greatest attention to detail. The japanned panels are decorated in the Chinese manner following a tradition spanning back centuries.
