An 18th Century Mahogany Tripod Table

Sold

A fine George III Period mahogany tripod occasional table, the scallop edge top with bird cage action, set upon a fluted vase form stem above three cabriole legs, each carved in the rococo manner and terminating with a pad foot.

The Georgian tripod tripod is one of the most enduring forms in English furniture history. While the form is a prolific model in 18th century English cabinet making, this example has exceptional carving throughout and combines classical and rococo ornament.
