Width 55 inches (140 cm)
Depth 29 1/2 inches (75 cm)

An early twentieth century Art Deco Period writing desk, veneered throughout in richly figured calamander wood, the top surface inset with black leather, the two retractable slides of the same, set above a single drawer, flanked by two smaller drawers on either side, all raised on turned fluted legs, terminating on brass ball feet.

While this desk is entirely twentieth century in expression, it shows the direct influence of the Louis XVI Period bureau plat in its overall form. The veneer work employs the finest and most richly figured calamander wood – a timber associated only with the finest cabinetmaking.
