A good example of an early twentieth century Bamileke hardwood circular low table, the top of exceptional colour, the body of carved lattice form.

These tables were carved from a single segment of a hardwood tree trunk. The intricate lattice work represents the web of the earth spider, a symbol of divine wisdom. These pieces are known as king’s tables or bird’s nest tables and traditionally used by the Bamileke Tribe for cultural ceremonies and festivals.
