A 19th Century Qing Dynasty Yellow Ground Porcelain Vase and Cover

£1,850

SOLD

A late 19th century porcelain yellow ground vase and cover, the lid with red finial, the body decorated with stylised flowers, Chinese furniture and objects.

As with all other coloured ceramics, the yellow on this piece was achieved by oxidising metal; when heated, the mineral mixture becomes hard and glass like, creating the wonderfully reflective surface.

This particular vase and cover with its yellow ground is decorated with secular objects and has rich colours with crisp outlines.

Qing Dynasty, Gungxu Period (1875 – 1908)
