Andrew Sinclair: ‘When I lived in Narrow Street 40 years ago, Old Ma Fisher had her barges outside in the Thames. Now, with Francis Bacon who painted there and Ian McKellen living there, they look out onto a river full of nothing but electric boats and tourists. The barges are long gone.’
