A digital electric coffee table with circuitry components, flashing lights, a plasma ball.

This contemporary piece of furniture is both useful, but also immensely entertaining. The extraordinary digital coffee table, measuring 47 inches wide, 23 inches deep, 15 3/4 inches high, contains a miniature city built entirely from computer hardware. At this, its protagonist (a toy model of a gorilla) is playing havoc with the urban electricity, setting in motion a psychedelic light show with changing colours as […]

Viva l'Italia!

We love all things Italian at Timothy Langston. To celebration our Italian connection we thought it would be helpful to compile this list of items (in date order!) that we currently stock which are Italian here at the gallery. Of course we are always on looking out for beautiful pieces that capture our imagination, but this […]

You've Got Mail...

There is something about receiving a handwritten letter: a small envelope which was not mailed by Barclays, HSBC or Lloyds sending depressing news about ones ability to borrow (or lack thereof), but rather a crisp piece of paper immortalising someone’s thoughts in ink; the content of which, told by a friend, family member or lover, are brought to life by the […]

From Sweden with Love: A Pair of Gustavian Style Crystal Wall Lights and A Giltwood Pier Mirror

When asked to think of Swedish furniture for some of us this might conjure up images of couples in relationship limbo (she: with tape measure in hand and a purposeful stride, he: with suggestions of how to better spend a Saturday morning), long aisles of flat-packed sofas, shelves and tables with little blue and yellow plastic […]

A guide to wooden furniture

200 Years of Regency Furniture

Although, stylistically speaking, the British Regency Period only refers to a timeframe of a decade either side of 1810, it churned out an impressive number of extraordinarily impactful furniture, embodying the flavour of the age in the Kingdom. The invigorating spirit that followed the Age of Enlightenment was almost palpable and the Regency Period witnessed […]

Imari Porcelain and Europe

The European fascination with Japanese “Imari” porcelain really began in the late 17th century and items of varying size, shape or form quickly became as much a focal point of grand Western homes as their Chinese counterparts. Imari works are customarily decorated in red and blue glazes, highlighted with gilded outlines, over a white, almost […]

Fantasy Transport by Andrew Sinclair

Andrew Sinclair’s art seeks not only to frame the heavens and, in fact, the millennium, but to “capture infinity in a grain of sand”. No matter the subject, time and space is of the essence. Taking inspiration form Joseph Cornell‘s box art as well as Max Ernst‘s collages, Sinclair’s subject matter often seems to revolve around […]
