A Single Saumur Lamp Base
A single hand caved and painted lamp base of bulbous form, the body taking the form of a pumpkin.
We have named this lamp base after the Château de Saumur, an historic town located in the Pays de la Loire region. Since its construction in the 11th century the Château has been a fortress, a prison, an arms depot and residence for the town governors. Overlooking the river Loire, the Château de Saumur now houses the town’s museum.
Saumur is a well known wine region of the Loire. This elegant lamp base conjures up the traditions of this highly agricultural part of France.
