Portraiture is one of the earliest genres of painting and since the sitters range from military legends to elegant ladies, there is a vast area from which to choose. Our stock of portraiture spans three centuries, capturing historical periods through known sitters, each sporting the fashion of his or her age. Portraits offer us a remarkable insight into sartorial development and provide a room with characterful focus. Over the years we have also managed to repatriate some ancestors with their modern day descendants.
