An early 20th century bamboo stick stand of generous proportions, the feet and tops ending in subtly embossed bronze caps, the joints merged in black metal.
The colour of the giant grass has, over time, mellowed and adopted a wonderful speckled effect. Interestingly, bamboo has a higher compressive strength than concrete, brick and wood underlining the durability of this piece.
It would certainly make a fabulous and useful addition to any English country house.
