A Pair of 18th Century Piedmontese Open Armchairs or Fauteuils
£3,900
SOLD
A fine pair of late 18th century green and cream painted open armchairs, having oval backs with scrolling arms, the overstuffed seats carved with Greek key frieze and raised upon fluted turned, tapering legs.
North Italian, Piedmont Region
These open armchairs show direct French influence in their drawing. However, the cream and green painted surfaces together with the exaggerated form are specifically typical of North Italian designs of this period.
