A Stunning Pair of Mid-Century Brass Side Chairs

A most unusual pair of gilt lacquered solid brass side chairs, the tall backs of spindle form, above velvet upholstered seats, all raised on turned splayed legs with stretchers.

This pair of chairs is something of a mystery. The form is specifically mid to late nineteenth century, however the construction is more specifically mid-20th century. It is likely that these chairs were made for an investiture and must have formed part of a larger set.
