Circa 1760 England
An 18th Century George III Period Mahogany Dumb Waiter
£2,500
SOLD
Height 42 inches (106.68 cm)
Diameter 22.50inches
A fine George III period mahogany dumb waiter with three graduating dish tiers each having a turned rim, all supported upon turned baluster columns and terminating in three generously carved cabriole legs with pad feet.
This fine example of a mahogany dumb waiter bears an exquisite patina as well as the classic shape of three graduating, rotating tiers resting on a tripod; the tripod being one of the most enduring forms in Georgian furniture. Its proportions are extremely well balanced and a small lip to each rim ensures that items placed on it are safe.
Dumb waiters are increasingly used today for the display of object and family photographs.
