A Large Late 18th Century Qianlong Period Mandarin Porcelain Vase & Cover

£1,450

SOLD

A fine late 18th century Mandarin porcelain vase and cover, of large scale, the lid with seated lion finial, the vase decorated throughout with figurative landscapes, birds, flowers and insects and incorporating rococo ornament.

This large vase is a glorious example of Chinese Export porcelain from the end of the 18th century. The colour palette is specific to this period and was hugely fashionable in Europe. The incorporation of rococo scrollwork decoration also proves that this piece was ultimately destined for the European market.
