A Set of 18th Century Engravings of Exotic Plants

£1,450

SOLD

A framed collection of eight hand-coloured engravings of exotic plants including cacti. All inscribed in Latin and set in paper mounts under glass.

While these prints are an early study into exotic flora and fauna, of equal interest is the presence of eighteenth century cache pots. Such objects themselves were highly prized and it is interesting to see the manner in which a botanist’s patron expected his collection to planted.

Some with minor foxing; some mounts with water stains.
