A Mid-20th Century Pair of Baguès Wall Lights

£2,250

SOLD

A charming mid-century pair of wall lights attributed to Maison Baguès of Paris, the mirrored glass backs of vase form, with scrolling gilt metal candle arms having mirrored glass foliate and floral decoration throughout.

Re-wired for electric lighting.

Maison Baguès, founded in 1860, is synonymous with its iconic range of gilt and silver-gilt bronze, wrought iron and crystal chandeliers, lamps and wall sconces. Associated with highly skilled, traditional methods of metal work and gilding, the firm is also known for its lavish use of hand assembled glass and crystal beads.

Today, Maison Baguès continues to develop and produce new pieces, based on collaborations with contemporary designers. A large part of their current activity, however, also focuses on the preservation of the firm’s heritage, and on the restoration of original Maison Baguès objects and Art Lighting designs.
