A 19th Century Qing Dynasty Turquoise Glazed Porcelain Bottle Vase

The first turquoise glaze was recorded in the Yuan Dynasty (1260-1368) and remained a popular colour until the 19th century. Though many pieces contained turquoise aspects to their overall designs, single colour turquoise pieces remained rare until the first half of the Ming Period. During the Kangxi Dynasty, turquoise porcelain became very popular in Europe, with turquoise biscuit being the most desired in England. Wealthy individuals of good taste, such as Anthony Rothschild, were avid collectors of these wares.
