A Pair of 19th Century Qing Dynasty Green Ground Porcelain Bottle Vases

£3,600

SOLD

A pair of late 19th century porcelain bottle vases, with green crackle glazes.

Introduced during the Kangxi reign, a translucent copper rich glaze was applied to a crackleware base resulting in an apple green glaze. While this glaze had been used in previous eras, it did not form the ground colour of a piece until the Kangxi Period. As the technique progressed, colours became darker and more brilliant, as can be seen in this example.

Qing Dynasty, Gungxu Period (1875 – 1908)
